Studies, work, science and research optimally integrated with culture sports and leisure to transform a research centre into a lively town is the idea behind GALILEO.
Planned are a congress centre with 17 conference and seminar rooms, as well as a main lecture hall with 1,300 seats, a 257-room hotel, a boarding house with 170 apartments, various offices, restaurants, shops and service businesses, church, fitness, wellness and health centre at approx. 1,000 m².
The play of shadows and sunlight forms the fundamental theme of façade design – transparent surfaces alternate with closed elements of plain sheet metal, impact panels, expanded metal. As the overall typology, the façade is structured modular. Its luminous appearance aims to promote safety, especially in the evening hours and symbolise the energy that is generated during the day from sunlight and used for night time illumination.
